Edie update 09/29/09

Well good news bad news. Edie came home today - thats good news. We really missed her. Still sick though - not so good news. Turns out they did not find a surgical issue which is what they were looking for and sent her home to have her PCP take another crack at a diagnosis. That is also good news as we were very much wanting to avoid surgery. Her condition remains undiagnosed though - so that's not so good news. A few potential issues (though not ones that explain the issue) came up. 1. A potentially malignant growth. Should know in a few days. 2. Celiacs disease - should know soon.

Anyway - she is home for the time being and we hope continues to mend and be done with this whole thing. Thanks so much for praying, caring and helping. You all are very much loved. TJS

edie update 09/26/2009

Riley Emily and I went to visitEdie today. She was in good spirits and feeling ok. Results from Hydroscan (pardon spelling have no idea) were inconclusive - also did some more cat scans and x rays today. Monday its a top to bottom look with endoscopy and colonoscopy (she is overjoyed) to get the full picture. After that - they should have enough info to put it all together. Will let you know. Thanks again for caring, praying and helping.

Edie update 09/25/09

Edie had some tests today - no results yet so no real news about what this may be. She remains comfortable and on ice chips and pain meds. She is cranky and ready to come home. She is convinced the house must be a mess and that the dog will die of sorrow without her. I showed her a picture of the dog on my phone which, unbelieveably, helped. They may have to tie her down if they don't come up with a solution soon because she is done laying in bed. Not her bag at all. That's it for tonight.

Edie's Recovery

Early this morning Edie was admitted to the Cleveland Clinic with severe abdominal pain. Her Doctor is one of the top in the field and we are hopeful that he can come to a solution for this drawn out worsening situation. Last night they ruled out all the immediately life threatening kinds of things like heart attack etc. Beginning in the morning they will put her through a battery of tests (again) with the hope of narrowing it all down. I will update the summary of those findings when I have them. They were able to give her some good pain and nausea meds so she is resting comfortably. Her diet is limited to ice chips to try to settle everything down. Thanks everyone for caring and checking up on her. I will try to update this daily so you will feel informed. If you really want to call me you are welcome do so. Thanks to everyone who is praying and special thanks to the Windham gang for their wonderful freindship and assistance. Tom
